Skyline of NEW YORK, the world's densest city of skyscrapers

Post by Bruno » Tue Oct 24, 2017 2:24 pm

Since 1910s, New York has been the best known city of skyscrapers, not only for Empire State Building and World Trade Center, the number of skyscrapers is also far ahead of most of other cities in the world.

432 Park Ave is a residential building, and it's the tallest residential building in the world, it's 426 m tall, its roof is 9 meters taller than 1 WTC Tower. The building has 88 floors, each floor has 1-2 condominiums, from where the views of Central Park and Manhattan skyline can be totally seen.

Currently almost all the tallest buildings in New York are grouped in Manhattan island, but soon we will see other boroughs of the city to have skyscrapers over 1000 ft built. Now Brooklyn and Queens already have 1000 ft-plus buildings planned, and the one in Brooklyn has already been under construction.

9 DeKalb Avenue, or called 340 Flatbush Avenue, is the first supertall to be built outside of Manhattan in New York City. If built, it will stand 1066 ft tall at Downtown Brooklyn, slightly higher than the main observation deck of Empire State Building. The building will feature a very skinny shape, very similar with the 111 West 57 Street, as these two residential buildings are being developed by the same developer, the JDS Group. Construction of the tower had begun in earlier 2017.

The tower will change the skyline of New York.

9 DeKalb Avenue will not be topped out until 2019, currently Manhattan is still possesses the largest cluster of skyscrapers in the city, especially the Midtown.
Let's take a look at the brother of 9 DeKalb Avenue, a tower named 111 West 57 Street or The Stainway Tower, it's designed by SHoP Architects and being developed by JDS Development Group, both same as 9 DeKalb Avenue, but it's taller, it will be 1438 ft when completed.

111 West 57 Street is currently under construction, it now has been built to about a third of the total height. It's estimated to top out in 2018.

57th Street will become a street of supertall towers, now there has already have the One 57 and 432 Park built.

And here is 111 West 57 Street under construction, however, these are not the tallest, the tallest tower will be a tower called Central Park Tower, which formerly called Nordstrom Tower. Central Park Tower is also under construction, the progress is not as fast as 111 West 57 Street though.

Central Park Tower initially planned to be built to 1775 ft, one foot less than One World Trade Center, with a spire added on the roof, then by the later the spire was removed from the design, now the tower is being built with no intention to construct the spire, the tower will top out at 1555 ft.
