This post is a bit old, to view the more recent progress of the building, see: The tallest building in Beijing grows to nearly 500m high
After in August China Zun Tower surpassed China World Trade Center Tower 3 in height, it keeps growing higher.
The appearance of China Zun Tower is inspired by a kind of artifact from ancient China called "Zun", which was used as a vessel to contain wines in some religious rituals, as a result so does this tower features an design in which the middle portion is thinner than the top and base.
Now the progress of the tower has got to a point between the midsection and the top, the top is 15 meters wider than the building's midsection, so the pace is not as fast as several months ago when it was constructed to the midsection, and as the tower goes higher, the pace is gradually getting slower.
However, by the end of October China Zun has still reached a remarkable height of around 385 meters, this is 60 meters taller than China World Trade Center Tower 3, the former tallest building in Beijing, and even taller than the roof of the notable Empire State Building in New York City.
Take a look at how this tower appears at night, unlike skyscrapers in United States on which special illumination for the phase of construction can still be found, the buildings under construction in China generally don't have any illumination at night, it's a shame that this tower can not be a part of night view of skyline in Beijing.
It is estimated that by the end of November the tower will replace the 405-meter-CCTV Radio Tower to become the tallest structure in Beijing.
