Chinese Cities with supertalls

In recent years, a skyscraper construction boom has been seen in lots of Chinese cities, no matter First-tier cities or second-tier cities.
During 2015, there are 106 skyscrapers rise to at least 200 meters built worldwide, among them 62 are located in China, which is ranked first in the world in this respect, followed by Indonesia with only 9 skyscrapers built, we have to recognize that China is doing a good job in this respect.

In terms of construction of supertalls, China is also far ahead of other regions of the world.

5 of 10 tallest skyscrapers in the world are from Mainland China.
Quite a few cities in China have at least one skyscraper that rise to more than 300 meters, which is called supertalls. In the past, a building with such height can only be found in Shanghai or Guangzhou, Jin Mao Tower’s 88-story was regarded as a unattainable height. Nevertheless, skyscrapers are rising in many other cities including many second-tier cities upon people unaware.
Some of these cities even possess more than 3 supertalls, and the other cities are joining to their ranks with a large amount of supertalls under construction.

The cities listed below are all of Mainland China.

NOTE: Because of the development of these cities, things are subject to change, the content below will get updated time to time, updates occur on an irregular basis, usually in response to the new proposals and the changes to the status of buildings.
The last updating was done by May 1st,2016, please note the content below is all based on that time.

Each City listed below has at least one supertall built:

Southern Cities: Shenzhen Guangzhou Zhuhai Nanning Liuzhou Xiamen Wenzhou
Eastern Cities: Shanghai Nanjing Suzhou Zhenjiang Wuxi Changzhou Huaian
Middle Cities: Changsha Chongqing Wuhan Guiyang Kunming Nanchang
Northern Cities: Shenyang Dalian Beijing Tianjin Jinan Zhengzhou Yantai

Cities listed below have only proposals for supertalls but no one of which have yet been built:

Chengdu   Haikou   Linyi   Urumqi   Yinchuan   Yichang   Harbin   Fuzhou   Ningbo   Qingdao   Xian  Hangzhou   Luoyang   Foshan   Zhongshan   Changchun   Jiujiang   Hefei   Yangzhou   Wenling   Dongguan

Proposals not always come true, a relatively notable case is Chicago Spire, which had been designed, approved, and even started construct, but the construction didn’t last long, soon the project went suspended and end up being cancelled, only thing left to the site is a hole. As for projects in China, the Sky City in Changsha is a persuasive example similar with Chicago Spire but more ridiculous.

For this reason the rank of the cities below are based on the number of each city’s supertalls in which proposed ones are not counted and just a reference. Sightseeing Towers are also counted, if some cities has same number of supertalls built, then proposed supertalls will be take into consideration to determine the rank.(the amounts of proposed supertall may not be correct.)
