Shenzhen is one of the fastest growing cities in the world, the city is leading the development of skyscrapers in China, a country full of cities of skyscrapers, none of these cities has more supertall buildings built than that of Shenzhen. As of September 2018, Shenzhen has 14 supertall buildings built, the number is only second to that of Dubai, which has 25 built.
Below is the list of tallest buildings in Shenzhen. Buildings are ranked by standard height, which means spires are counted to the heights of the buildings, but antennas for broadcasting uses are not. Skyscrapers in Shenzhen are mainly built around three regions in the city, which are Luohu District, Futian District and Nanshan District, the item ‘Location’ seen under the title of each building in the list refers to which district the building is located. Buildings are at least 300 meters in height.

Overview of skyscrapers in Shenzhen:
Recent years the cities in China have seen a skyscraper construction boom that is still ongoing today, and Shenzhen plays the most prominent role in this boom, with currently more than twenty supertalls skyscrapers proposed and under construction, much more than any other cities in China. As for the whole world, only New York City and Dubai can be mentioned in the same breathe.
As of September 2018, there are 14 supertalls completed or topped out in Shenzhen, many other ones are under construction, and tens of supertalls have been proposed, even more than Dubai, however, some of them might not serious proposals as many proposals was proposed many years ago and still no actual actions have been taken, so it’s still unclear whether Shenzhen will become the city with most supertalls in the world or not.
Unlike New York City, in which the skyscrapers are concentrated in Manhattan, skyscrapers in Shenzhen are much more scattered. The majority of the skyscrapers in the city are situated in the boroughs like Futian, Luohu, Nanshan. The first two are all located near central area of city, the latter one is very far away from the central area, nearly 15km between Nanshan and central area, and the distance between Futian and Luohu is also quite long. As a result, Shenzhen skyline is not so imposing like Manhattan is. If the skyscrapers in Shenzhen can be centralized in one area then the formed skyline must be very spectacular and impressive.
The relatively notable skyscrapers in Luohu are Kingkey 100, which was the tallest in the city before 2016, and Shun Hing Square, which has long been the landmark of Shenzhen. The newly built megatall, Ping An International Financial Center can be found in Futian district.
And Nanshan is the district where the iconic shaped China Resource Headquarter located, and the district has a great potential in the future, they are trying to develop the district into ‘Manhattan of Pearl River Delta’. The planned Qianhai Tower in Nanshan is even exceeding 800 meters. However, due to the airline above the district and the proximity to airport, some planned skyscrapers had been cancelled or downsized for the safety of aircraft.
